The number of new-energy vehicles reached 11.49 million, with 3.713 million newly registered in the first three quarters. By the end of September, the number of new energy vehicles in China reached 11.49 million, accounting for 3.65 percent of the total. Among them, there are 9.26 million pure electric vehicles, accounting for 80.56 percent of the total number of new energy vehicles. In the first three quarters of 2022, 3.713 million new energy vehicles were registered nationwide, an increase of 1.842 million year-on-year, or 98.48 percent, accounting for 21.34 percent of the total new vehicle registrations. In the third quarter of this year, 1.495 million new energy vehicles were registered, a monthly average of 498,000 vehicles, significantly higher than the monthly average of 370,000 vehicles in the first half of this year.

The second-hand car market remained active in the first three quarters, with 16.4 million motor vehicle transfer registrations. In the first three quarters of 2022, a total of 16.4 million motor vehicle transfer registrations were handled by local public security and traffic administration departments, of which 15.35 million were motor vehicle transfer registrations, accounting for 93.55%. In the first three quarters of this year, the ratio of vehicle transfer registrations to new vehicle registrations reached 1:1.13, significantly higher than 1:1.24 in the same period last year. In recent years, the Ministry of Public Security, together with the Ministry of Commerce and other departments, has carried out reform measures to facilitate the registration of second-hand car transactions in different places, which has better promoted the circulation of second-hand cars. In the first three quarters of this year, 2.575 million second-hand passenger cars were registered directly in different places.

82 cities have more than 1 million cars, and 21 cities, including Beijing, Chengdu and Chongqing, have more than 3 million. By the end of September, 82 cities had more than 1 million cars, an increase of six cities year-on-year, 38 cities had more than 2 million cars and 21 cities had more than 3 million cars. Beijing has more than 6 million cars, Chengdu and Chongqing have more than 5 million, and Suzhou, Shanghai, Zhengzhou, Xi 'an and Wuhan have more than 4 million.

Handled vehicle and driving license business online 67.99 million times. In the first three quarters of 2022, in order to do a good job of epidemic prevention and control on a regular basis, local public security traffic control departments actively carried out online traffic control business, such as replacing and issuing licenses, without leaving home. A total of 67.99 million online transactions were conducted to replace and issue driving licenses and temporary license plates.
